Boudoir Photography and a Lingerie Store: A Match Made in Heaven

Boudoir Photography and a Lingerie Store: A Match Made in Heaven

An Interview with Stephanie from Le Bustiere and Julie from Julie Socher Boudoir Photography- Part 2

If you’re interested in doing a boudoir photography shoot, keep reading to see why a bra fitting will bring the experience to the next level. Plus, get a deeper look at the women behind these two Washington, D.C. area businesses and how they empower each other and their clients.

How do you create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel both physically comfortable and emotionally empowered?

Julie: After our initial call, I send a thoughtful pre-session questionnaire where she can share her expectations, any insecurities she may have about her body, and also the features she truly loves. I ask about allergies, skin sensitivities, and personal preferences so every detail is considered. When she arrives, she’s welcomed into a calm, private space with water, sparkling beverages, and a few snacks tailored to her preferences. These small, intentional touches help her settle in, exhale, and feel cared for from the very beginning.

When sensitive conversations arise around body image, surgery, motherhood, aging, or life transitions, I approach them with empathy and respect. My role is not to dismiss those feelings, but to listen and gently guide her toward seeing herself with more compassion. Through thoughtful direction and encouragement, I highlight the parts of her she may overlook while honoring everything her body has carried her through. Empowerment in my studio comes from feeling safe enough to be seen and supported in every chapter of her story.

Stephanie: We start with a welcoming, elegant boutique aesthetic and, of course, eye-catching lingerie. But the important part is how you feel during your fitting. Our fitters are trained to be knowledgeable about fit and style, but also compassionate and respectful about how our bodies change during different periods of our lives, and how to support and celebrate our bodies at each stage. As Julie said, our job is to listen and create a space for them to share their thoughts and feelings, where their needs are met with respect and understanding, where their privacy and comfort are paramount.

What role does trust play in your partnership—and how have you built that trust over time?

Stephanie: A bra fitting is an intimate experience, so we approach every fitting with the respect, care, communication, and love that everyone deserves. Our clients trust us with their bodies, and we value that trust. That’s why we’re careful about who we partner with; we want to ensure our clients are cared for at the same level we offer at Le Bustiere. We know that Julie shares our values and helps our clients look and feel incredible, and over the years, we’ve built a wonderful community of support and celebration for our customers.

Julie: Trust is everything in what I do.  Because of that, I am equally intentional about who I align my brand with. When I refer a client to Le Bustiere, I need to know she will be met with the same level of care, discretion, and expertise that I provide in my studio. Over the years, that trust between Stephanie and me has been built through consistency, shared values, and the feedback of the women we both serve. I know that when my client walks into her boutique, she will be supported and celebrated, not judged or rushed. That seamless extension of care strengthens the entire experience. Our partnership works because we both understand that trust is earned slowly, protected fiercely, and felt deeply by the women who choose us.

Have you seen a difference in a client’s confidence when they’ve experienced Lingerie Fitting and Boudoir photography together versus separately?

Stephanie: Of course! Whether it’s walking down the street or at a photoshoot, if you’re uncomfortable in your outfit, it will show. Having garments that fit properly, are comfortable, and supportive will change everything from your posture to the way you move, so a professional bra fitting can be life-changing in that way. A fitter can also show you styles and colors you may not have thought of or didn’t think would look good on you, and offer silhouettes that highlight your unique beauty. When you wear something that brings out your beauty and confidence like that, we see an immediate shift in confidence. But it’s not always easy to see those changes in yourself, so having someone like Julie capture that on camera during a boudoir photography session is the cherry on top!

Julie: Absolutely! I can see a noticeable difference when a client has been professionally fitted and thoughtfully styled before her session. When lingerie truly fits and supports her body, she moves differently. Her posture softens yet strengthens, her expressions feel more natural, and she’s far less distracted by adjusting straps or questioning how something looks. That physical comfort creates space for emotional confidence to step forward. That shift shows up in every image. The combination of expert fitting and intentional photography doesn’t just elevate the final result; it elevates the entire experience from start to finish.

What are your hopes for the future of your collaboration and the community of women you serve together?

Stephanie: Julie is a fantastic partner who adds so much value to what we do as female entrepreneurs. We’re both in very niche businesses, which can be challenging, but having a partner you can trust and count on is so wonderful and supportive- something we both value!  We have a lot of ideas, from blog posts to social media content to events, that we hope inspire and empower our clients. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about: creating a community of people who support and care for one another and bring out the best in each other.

Julie: My hope is that we continue to raise the standard of what women expect from experiences like this. I want it to feel seamless, elevated, and personal from the moment she walks into the boutique to the moment she holds her finished images in her hands. As we grow, I hope we find even more ways to educate women about fit, confidence, and investing in themselves so they walk into both of our spaces already feeling empowered.
